Colt Starting

We believe the first rides make or break a horse’s future, and we don’t take that lightly. Our colt starting program builds trust, respect, and understanding from the ground up — no shortcuts, no blowups, just clear communication and solid horsemanship. Each colt is started with patience, purpose, and a strong emphasis on feel, timing, and body control. Whether it’s their first time seeing a saddle or they’ve been handled a bit and need direction, we’ll get ‘em going with a calm mind and forward willingness.

Colt starting is a 90-day minimum commitment — this gives us the time needed to build a safe, willing, and confident partner that’s ready for the next chapter in their journey.

Next Steps

This program is designed for young horses who have the basics down but need more wet saddle blankets and real-world experience. We work on refinement of cues, better responsiveness, softness in the face and body, and confident movement through unfamiliar environments. Whether your horse needs to learn how to rate cattle, pony colts, ride out alone, or just be solid under saddle, our “Next Steps” training bridges the gap between green and good-minded. This is ideal for horses that are broke but green, or for those transitioning into more specialized work like ranch riding, performance patterns, or all-around versatility. We meet each horse where they’re at and work to bring out their full potential, with a feel-first, respectful approach that builds lasting results.

Finishing

A truly finished horse is soft, responsive, confident, and ready to go to work — whether that’s in the arena, out on the ranch, or wherever life takes them. Our finishing program is designed for horses with a solid start who need refinement, polish, and consistency to step into a dependable, advanced role. We focus on collection, body control, softness through transitions, riding one-handed, exposure to new environments, and developing a strong work ethic.

Tune-Ups

Even a broke horse gets rusty. If your horse is feeling pushy, distracted, heavy in the bridle, or just needs a reminder of good manners — we’ll bring them back to center. Our tune-up sessions revisit groundwork, reinforce softness, and address gaps or bad habits that have snuck in. We treat each horse like a partner, not a problem, and bring them back to a confident, respectful state of mind that makes them a joy to ride again.

Mustang Gentling

Undomesticated doesn’t mean untrainable. We specialize in working with BLM mustangs and other untouched or previously mishandled horses, building a foundation of trust before ever asking for performance. We use quiet, intuitive horsemanship to earn their confidence, then slowly introduce them to haltering, leading, groundwork, and eventually saddling and riding — all at a pace that keeps their mind intact and their curiosity growing.

Problem Horse Training

Whether it’s bucking, bolting, biting, or just plain confusion, we don’t label horses as “bad” — we see them as misunderstood. Our problem horse program identifies the root of resistance or fear and works to rebuild the horse’s trust and understanding. We prioritize safety for both horse and rider while developing lasting change through thoughtful, hands-on work that’s fair, effective, and grounded in experience.

Groundwork Camps

For horses that need structure or owners who want to build a better partnership, our short-term groundwork camps focus on creating a respectful, responsive, and relaxed horse. We cover halter work, desensitizing, leading with feel, yielding the body, trailer loading, and more — all with an emphasis on communication and understanding. It’s amazing how many “saddle problems” get solved on the ground.
